To apply for financial aid, you will need to complete the following steps:
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This application is used to determine your eligibility for the following types of funding:
- Subsidized Stafford loan
- Unsubsidized Stafford loan
- Federal Pell Grant
- ACG and SMART grants
- Grants offered by your state
- Complete the application process on the University of Phoenix Financial Aid Web (FAW) site.

University of Phoenix financing options
University of Phoenix has a number of financial options designed to meet a variety of student needs. Some of the most widely used programs include:
Pay-As-You-Learn Plan
Our Pay-As-You-Learn Plan allows students to pay for their educations on a course-by-course basis. With this plan, all tuition and electronic course material fees must be paid before the start of each course.
Military or Government Billing Plan
If you are a government employee, a U.S. Armed Forces veteran or an active-duty military personnel, University of Phoenix may directly bill your organization for your educational costs. To have the University directly bill the military, you must be determined eligible by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The Military or Government Billing Plan does not include Montgomery GI Bill (Chapter 30) benefits.
Tuition Deferral Plan
Our Tuition Deferral Plan is suited for students who participate in their employers’ tuition reimbursement plans. Similar benefits are also offered to active-duty military personnel, reserve service members and their dependents.
Third-Party Billing Plan
Our Third-Party Billing Plans are used when an approved employer has arranged to finance a student’s education. Under these plans, University of Phoenix bills the approved employer directly for a student’s tuition.
