Transfer Credits
Receive credit for your previous college experience.
University of Phoenix is committed to supporting working adults with previous college experience. We have a number of options for students looking to transfer their earned credits to our institution.
National and international credit transfers
University of Phoenix evaluates courses and degree programs from regionally and nationally accredited institutions from across the United States. We also perform internal evaluations of academic records submitted from most international colleges and universities. Evaluations of records from certain countries may require the outside services of a University-approved agency.
Transfer policies and information
Students may be able to transfer previously earned credits to University of Phoenix; these credits may be used toward the completion of a bachelor’s degree program offered at our institution.
University of Phoenix may provide elective or general education credit for previous college-level coursework from a regionally or nationally accredited institution. In order to receive credit for a course, a student must have earned a grade C or higher. Credit is not granted for developmental or remedial courses.
Although students may be credited for previous college coursework, they may need to earn additional credits through University of Phoenix in order to fulfill certain program requirements.
Quarter or calendar credits transferred to University of Phoenix will be converted to semester credits.
Credit transfers for education degree programs
Transfer requests for education programs leading to initial teaching certification require evaluations by state and University of Phoenix–approved agencies; this criteria applies to academic records from both national and internationally based institutions.
The evaluation process for such transfer requests follows standards approved by the National Association of Foreign Student Administrators and the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers.
English translations are required for academic records issued in other languages. University of Phoenix will accept translations from the issuing institution or an official translation service. We may also use internal certified translators for French- and Spanish-language records.
National testing programs
Students who pass national testing program examinations may acquire undergraduate transfer credit.
Military experience
University of Phoenix supports the educational goals of military personnel. Our Credit Recognition Program allows service members to use their military training and experience to earn an Associate of Arts degree or enter other undergraduate programs at the University.
Each of the military services has developed methods for documenting military training that the American Council on Education has evaluated for college credit and that you may be able to apply to your undergraduate degree program at University of Phoenix.
